Evening Kayak & Glow Worms Tour

The evening will begin at dusk relaxing on Lake McLaren, watching the swans and ducks go about their evening’s preparations as you enjoy light refreshments including a glass of wine, or maybe a full sit down gourmet dinner  enjoying first class wine on the edge of the lake while watching the sun descend over the hills.  Our guides will then lead you on a gently paddle into the night to discover the magic of the enchanting glowworm canyon.

A truly magical, unique and inspiring experience not to be missed.

Please reconfirm your tour 24 hours prior to arrival as sunset departure times vary each month. 

Minimum Numbers: 2

Minimum Age: No child discount available.  All ages welcome.

Children: If there is a child younger than 5 years they may be taken free of charge, however we must be informed so that they are catered for.

Duration:  3.5 hours, including approximately 1.5 to 2 hours of paddling

Food and Drinks: Light gourmet refreshments including a glass of wine are included, however there is also an option to include a 3 course gourmet dinner  and drinks at an additional cost, please enquire at the time of booking.

Inclusions: Transport from Waimarino to lake edge. Polar fleeces for cooler evenings along with all kayaking equipment.

Transfers: Transport from Tauranga Accommodaiton is available and must be prebooked. If picking up from Mount Maunganui a surcharge will apply.

Please Note: Moderate fitness required. Please wear comfortable light warm clothing , but preferably no jeans.

Cancellation Conditions: As bookings for the Glow Worm Tour fill up very quickly and require catering to be prepared in advance, payment in full is required at time of booking.  Waimarino reserves the right to cancel the tour on the day, due to weather or any safety concerns.


 

Scenic Lake Rotoiti, Thermal Hot Pool & Glow Worm Cave Kayak Tour

View classic kiwi holiday homes dotted amongst the cliffs and explore the quiet lakes’ edge with its abundant birdlife while gliding over the calm waters with NZ’s only scenic lake and glow worm cave kayak tour.  Enjoy the myths and legends of the Maori people linked to Lake Rotoiti.  Then Relax in the natural thermal hot pools as you reflect on the experience.

Activity Start and Finish Times: 9:30am to 1:30pm in Summer or 10:30am to 2:30pm in Winter

Minimum Numbers: 2

Children:  Child discount available for children 5 to 12 years. 

Inclusions: Manupirua Thermal Hot Pools admission, all kayaking equipment, to cater for all weather types, snack and bottle of water and drybags for cameras.

Transfers: All transport provided from iSite’s and accommodation providers from both the Rotorua and Tauranga regions. If picking up from Tauranga a surcharge will apply.

Duration: 4 hours, including approximately 2 hours of paddling

What to Bring:  Swimwear (wear before arriving), towel, sunscreen, sunhat, sunglasses and camera.

Please Note: A moderate to good fitness level is required.
