Happy Valley Adventures Ltd was established in 1994, based on the desire to share our stunning property with the world. Only 15 minutes drive from Nelson this venture has now become a major attraction. We offer, quad bike tours; horse treks; a Tour of Discovery of the property by van and the Skywire flying-fox.

On Cable Bay Road just fifteen minutes north of Nelson, New Zealand, hosts Keith and Jill and their friendly team of staff are keen to share their 1600 acre farm and forest paradise with you. You may only have an hour or two or maybe you want to make a day of it. Either way you'll have an award-winning outdoor kiwi experience with Happy Valley Adventures.

Our most popular ride. Explore over 14km of beautiful native forest trails. Visit the world's largest Matai tree. Ride high to the hilltops, to spectacular coastal scenery, then down through the farmlands. All tours are fully guided allowing visitors to safely enjoy the environment. During the return to base you have the chance to play on the ‘fun track’ with its sweeping bends, dips and puddles after rain.

Departures: 9.30am and 1.30pm, all other times by prior arrangement.

Duration: 2.5 hours

Suitable for Disabled Clients: No

Health Restrictions: Yes

Suitable for Children: Children under 16 years may travel as a passenger with a competent adult or with the guide.

Inclusions: Helmet, cool or wet weather clothing and light refreshments.

Special Conditions: All riders must be capable. The guide will have the final decision on who will be competent riders assessing everyone after a briefing and training on the test track.


Quad Bike Farm Forest Ride

This is a shorter ride designed to suit all abilities. Visit the giant Matai trees and native forest trails. Ride through the fields of sheep and along the banks of the river. On the return to base play on the famous fun track.

Quad Bike Bluehill Special

This ride covers the Bayview Circuit then climbs higher on more challenging trails. Not for the fainthearted.

Suitable for Children: No. This ride is for experienced riders only. No passengers allowed.

The Skywire

A world-first high-speed suspension wire ride designed to thrill while revealing the striking natural environment of Happy Valley. A combination flying fox & chairlift sees the riders soar in a four-person carriage 1.6 kilometres across a native forest valley reaching speeds up to 100kph, both forward and backwards. This ride, although not for the faint hearted, is for those who want a thrill without a complete sense of terror.

Health Restrictions: No

Suitable for Children: Yes. Younger children will be assessed on size, as being secure in the 5-point harness is crucial.

Guided Horse Trek

Explore the Happy Valley property on horseback with our guided horse trek opportunities. We have a range of treks we can take you on to suit your level of ability, and your guide will ensure that your horse is suitable for you to ride. Your guide can take you through meandering rivers and along mountain trails, with breathtaking mountain and sea views along the way.
