This family business has been operating for thirty years and is the catalyst for introducing the visitor to Great Lake Taupo through scenic boat cruises, private trout fishing charters, fly fishing, hiking and hunting.  Come and enjoy our hospitality and wealth of knowledge.

Operating Hours: Head office 9.00am to 5.00pm.

 

Departures: Closed Christmas Day. Operation is 7 days a week on request.

Help Notes:

  • Passenger's should report to the Chris Jolly Outdoors harbour office 15 minutes prior to departure. 
  • Please note for fishing tours, a fishing license will have to be purchased at an additional cost.
  • Bring your camera and a warm jacket in winter and a sun hat in summer.

Available Activities:
Daily Scenic Cruise Lake Taupo

Board the Cruise Cat, take a seat and enjoy all the comforts as you cruise to the Maori Rock Carvings. A full commentary is given on the volcanic history and Maori mythology surrounding Lake Taupo. Take in the fabulous views of secluded bays and the spectacular mountain peaks of the World Heritage Tongariro National Park.  On a clear day, the majestic volcanoes of Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro can be seen from the southern end of the lake.

Departures: Monday to Saturday 10.30am to 12.00pm and 1.30pm to 3.00pm

Sunday Brunch Scenic Cruise
Enjoy a sumptuous brunch menu of delicious fresh fruit platters, a full cooked breakfast, coffee and croissants while you take in breathtaking views of the mountains while making your way to the Maori rock carvings. This is the perfect way to spend a leisurely Sunday morning in Taupo. There is often the opportunity to feed the local ducks who have befriended us and fly alongside the boat.

Departures: Sundays 10.30am to 12.30pm.


3 Hour Private Boat Charter
Combine the relaxing elements of a private charter cruising through crystal clear waters on beautiful Lake Taupo with the thrilling experience of catching a Rainbow trout. Your catch can be prepared on the BBQ or sashimi style. The only way you can taste trout as it is not sold commercially in NZ. This little taste of Taupo compliments the fabulous menus and selection of wines we have to offer.

Maximum Numbers: 12.

Inclusions: Fishing equipment.

Exclusions: Fishing licences and catering.  


Fly Fishing For 2 People
Every winter prime Rainbow trout make their way up the rivers from whence they came. Spawning runs of large Brown trout usually start at the end of March with Rainbow trout following until the end of September.  During the summer months, most of the fly fisherman's attention turns to the Wilderness Rivers and the superb dry fly fishing on offer.  Clad in chest waders, you can nymph or wet fly fish to your heart's content.  An amazing way to indulge in a half or full day activity and experience the natural landscape of NZ - untouched!

Inclusions: Rates are based on two people per professional fishing guide. Transfers, fishing licences, fishing tackle and waders. Lunch is included in full day options.
