The unique Waitakere rainforest and wild west coast black sand beaches are just a thirty minute drive from downtown Auckland. Untamed Great Barrier Island is a thirty minute scenic flight from Auckland airport. All the icons of Coromandel Peninsula, where Aucklanders love to holiday, can all be reached in a day.

Our knowledgeable and experienced eco-guides provide an interactive, unforgettable experience of spectacular natural worlds. Walk with them on easy bush tracks amongst giant tree ferns, view New Zealand’s famous kauri trees, cross lush wetlands to natural thermal springs, stroll along some of the most awe-inspiring beaches the world has to offer and visit rare and endangered flora and fauna.

Can children take part? Yes, they are welcome but please note that all children under 15 years of age must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or mature adult known to the child and aged 18 years and over.

Are there minimum numbers for the activities to take place? Not at all.

Suitable for disabled? Unfortunately no, due to some rough conditions under feet.

What do we need to bring? Comfortable walking shoes, suitable outdoor clothing and a camera.

Are rain jackets provided? As we travel to a rain forest, we do have raincoats in case of rain.

Do I need to book in advance?  Bookings are definitely recommended as our trips are very popular - especially in Summer months. It pays to book as early as you can and secure the most suitable departure time(s).

Can I take photographs during the trip? Definitely, so you can remember your awesome experience with us.

Wilderness Experience - Half Day

Travel by luxury air-conditioned coach to the Arataki Centre perched high in the Waitakere Ranges where the sweeping decks give breathtaking panoramic views from the Tasman Sea to the Pacific Ocean. Absorb the local history before heading further west to experience the power of the wild and rugged west coast. Feel the black sand beneath your feet as you stroll along some of the most  awe-inspiring beaches the world has to offer. With our knowledgeable and experienced guides your eco-tour continues on to the lush rainforest where you hear native birdsong as you walk the easy bush tracks amongst New Zealand’s famous kauri trees and giant tree ferns.

This tour is perfect for all ages,and all fitness levels. Afternoon tea (tea, coffee, biscuits) is provided. Lunch is not included but we do stop for clients to be able to buy lunch.

Check-in time: 30 minutes before scheduled departure.

Full Day Coast & Rainforest Walk

Travel first to the Arataki Centre in the Waitakere Ranges. Absorb the area’s history and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Auckland Isthmus. Walk in the regenerating rainforest where our experienced guides will explain about the local flora and fauna, with giant tree ferns growing alongside picturesque streams. Unwind by a spectacular cascading waterfall or swim beneath it. Enjoy spectacular coastal views before venturing on to an awe-inspiring west coast beach where you can stroll along the soft black sand and feel the clear ocean breeze.

A Kiwi style picnic lunch is provided at a scenic location, along with afternoon tea (tea, coffee, biscuits).

Your eco-tour ends in an area of untamed original rainforest where mature 1,000 year old kauri trees tower over the unique flora and fauna that has developed separately from the rest of the world for millions of years.

A moderate level of fitness is required.

Full Day - Best of Both Worlds

Experience the best sights of Auckland with our Auckland City Revealed tour in the morning combined with our afternoon Wilderness Experience tour. Auckland is set on 48 dormant volcanic cones and is known as the City of Sails. It is New Zealand’s largest and busiest city.

Your morning tour is a journey of discovery, designed not only to show you the history, sights and sounds but you also see how Aucklanders live and play. The tour includes Auckland University, Domain and  Harbour Bridge, Queen St and stunning views across the Hauraki Gulf and back to the city from Mt Victoria on the North Shore.

Full Day Coromandel Tour

Experience the Coromandel Peninsula with its mountainous forest-covered backbone, sheltered bays, coves and stunning coastlines. Travel via Thames to the spectacular western coast road that leads us to Coromandel Township. Here renowned New Zealand potter Barry Brickell has designed and built a mountain railway system that takes you on a memorable journey through the rugged landscape. Take a quiet stroll in pristine forest to view magnificent kauri trees. Journey to the east coast beaches where you stop for lunch. A cafe lunch is provided, along with afternoon tea (tea, coffee, biscuits).

You will visit Hot Water Beach with its hot springs in the middle of the sand. A short drive away is the iconic scenery of Cathedral Cove where the Pacific Ocean washes through a natural arch onto a white sandy beach. To visit this beach you walk downhill for about 30 minutes and spend some time relaxing before returning.

Moderate level of fitness required. Cathedral Cove walk is subject to guide discretion (approx 3km or 2 mile walk).

There a chance to swim so dont forget your togs. Soak in the natural hot pools that you can dig in the sand. We change the direction of our tour to reach Hot Water Beach at the optimum time.

Full Day Great Tastes of Matakana Tour

Leave the bustle of the city and relax on the one hour drive north through the rolling green hills and past beautiful coastline before arriving at The Honey Farm.  Next visit a local vineyard before continuing onto Matakana with its local food, boutique wineries and artisans. The full day tour includes cheese and wine tastings at award-winning wineries, a stop at Chocolate Brown boutique chocolate factory, lunch, afternoon tea, coffee or juice.  A visit to renowned Morris and James Pottery and the quite remarkable Brick Bay Sculpture Trail are additional highlights.
