Nature Connections are an innovative tour operator based in Rotorua, an area famous for rich Maori culture, spectacular geothermal activity, volcanic landscapes, scenic lakes and magnificent rainforests.  The range of fully guided walks and tours offered reflects the diversity of the region and are designed for visitors who enjoy spectacular nature, history, heritage and culture.  

Operating Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm. Closed Christmas Day.

Transfers: Complimentary transfers are available from accommodation, please advise accommodation details at booking stage. 


Child Ages: 5 to 15 years, under 5 years free of charge.

Help Notes:

Full day tours include pick up and return transfers, admissions, picnic lunch and refreshments. We recommend for safety and comfort reasons that clients wear suitable clothing for the activity, walking boots/shoes, hat and bring a weatherproof Jacket.

Experience the amazing geothermal activity, gushing geysers, boiling mud pools and the many colours displayed in pools, lakes, craters, steaming vents and mineral terraces of Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland. Then enjoy the Waimangu Volcanic Valley nature walk amidst a stunning volcanic landscape with spectacular views of hot crater lakes, steaming cliffs, hissing fumeroles and colourful silica terraces.

Experience the amazing geothermal activity at Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland followed by the Waimangu Volcanic Valley nature walk.  In the afternoon witness the volcanic devastation created by the 1886 Mount Tarawera eruption as you journey through time on a guided walk of Rotorua’s Buried Village museum and excavated sites.  Take a walk to a picturesque waterfall set amidst beautiful rainforest.  Enjoy the stunning beauty and panoramic views of Lake Tarawera and a relaxing walk in the Redwood Forest.

Join our Geothermal Wonderland Tour to experience the awesome forces of nature, amazing geothermal activity and stunning volcanic landscapes.  Other features include Lady Knox Geyser, boiling hot springs, hissing fumaroles, native rainforest and birdlife.  Take a scenic boat cruise on Lake Rotomahana before finishing the day with a relaxing bathe in the natural mineral waters of the Waikite Valley Thermal Hot Pools.
