The concerts at Te Puia are an easy and exciting introduction to our culture.  A traditional karanga (welcome) marks the start of 45 minutes of song and dance inside the meeting house.  Here, surrounded by the beautiful wooden carvings of our ancestors, visitors are treated to lush harmonies, the seductive poi dance, the ferocious haka, (war challenge) and the complex tititorea (stick games).

Te Po is a feast of cultural storytelling, entertainment and Maori kai (hangi food). To conclude the evening, visitors will be ferried down into the valley, to the world famous Pohutu geyser, on Te Puia’s waka (people movers).  This is an appropriate way to finish the evening in the ethereal embrace of Pohutu geyser, and to feel the living legacy of the valley and its people.
