About the Property:

Fiordland Lodge is just north of the township of Te Anau on the road to Milford Sound. A private road leads to Fiordland Lodge, which sweeps into view briefly and only at the last possible moment. It is effectively camouflaged, having been built with materials such as a western red cedar shingle roof. In the Great Room a massive open fire entices guests to linger and exchange travel tales over pre and after-dinner drinks. The fireplace, built of stone from nearby Upukerora River, encompasses an entire wall, complete with a mantle piece fashioned of beams from old bridges on the Milford Road. Fiordland Lodge is a place of discovery or of quiet personal contemplation – a sanctuary in the real sense of the word.  With up to 40 rivers and streams within one and a half hours travel of the Lodge, fishing packages are just one of the accommodation features on offer. Guests can linger over delicious food, enjoy fine New Zealand wines from the well-stocked cellar or a cocktail from the bar. Chef James Musk specialises in New Zealand cuisine and he uses, where possible, locally grown produce. He offers local delicacies such as Fiordland seafood as well as a tempting selection of venison, lamb and beef dishes. Special dietary requirements are easily and often catered for. A special feature at the lodge is the extensive library on the Fiordland region with historic photos and a growing art collection. Fiordland Lodge is also an ideal location for weddings with a complete bridal service available, including a special honeymoon accommodation package.

Accommodation:
Star ratings are approximate only and intended to help you gauge the standard and facilities most suited to your needs. Whenever possible we have used the NZ Official Qualmark rating, however as not all properties are Qualmark rated, we have estimated an approximate star rating for the remainder. We stress that this is a guide only. We do not take any responsibility for changes in standards. It is also important that you recognise the difference between styles of accommodation e.g. 5 star motels will not have the same level of services or facilities as 5 star hotels. Properties do have a wide range of facilities, sometimes making them difficult to categorise.
